Statement prepared: 3 September 2026
1. What this statement covers
This statement applies to the Scoutworks marketing website at scoutworks.app, including the knowledge base, the free tools and the contact form. It is published by Seventeen Things Ltd.
The Scoutworks application at my.scoutworks.app is designed to the same standard and publishes its own accessibility statement inside the app; it is not covered here.
2. Our commitment
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We treat accessibility as part of the design system rather than a compliance exercise: the same components, colours and type are used on every page, so a fix in one place is a fix everywhere.
We have not commissioned an external audit. The findings below come from our own testing with automated tools (axe-core and Lighthouse), keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader checks, and we will update this statement as we fix things.
3. What we have done
- Semantic structure — every page has a single main landmark, labelled navigation regions, and headings that describe the content.
- Skip link — a “Skip to content” link is the first focusable element on every page.
- Keyboard operation — the site can be navigated with a keyboard alone; the mobile menu announces its state, closes with Escape and returns focus to its button.
- Visible focus — links, buttons and form fields show a clear focus indicator.
- Reduced motion — page and scroll animations are reduced for people who have asked their operating system for less motion.
- Text alternatives — images that carry meaning have alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Readable type and layout — text resizes to at least 200% without loss of content, and pages reflow to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
- No time limits and no autoplaying media.
4. Known issues
The following parts of the website do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working through them and will remove each item from this list as it is fixed.
- Colour contrast of some small text. Some secondary text — dates, counts and other meta information — falls short of the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by success criterion 1.4.3. We are moving this text to darker colours across the site.
- The desktop “Features” menu is not fully keyboard-navigable. It opens when its trigger receives focus, and the panel sits outside the natural tab order, so keyboard users may find it hard to reach every link (criteria 2.1.1 and 2.4.3). Every page in the menu is also reachable from the Features page and the footer.
- Some small tap targets. A number of links and controls — footer links, breadcrumb separators and filter chips — are smaller than the 24 × 24 pixel minimum recommended by WCAG 2.2 criterion 2.5.8.
- Heading levels are skipped on a few pages, which makes them harder to scan with a screen reader’s heading list (criterion 1.3.1).
- The knowledge-base search box does not yet announce its suggestions to screen readers as a combobox (criterion 4.1.2).
5. Reporting a problem
If you find something on this website that you cannot use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. Say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and which browser and assistive technology you were using if that is relevant.
Send us a message through the contact form, or email [email protected].
We aim to reply within 2 working days.
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which handles complaints about the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland and Wales.
6. About this statement
This statement was prepared on 3 September 2026 by Seventeen Things Ltd. It is based on our own testing of the live website and has not been independently audited. We will review it whenever we make significant changes to the site, and at least once a year.
