How do Young Leaders get their account?

A leader gives them a Young Leader login from their existing member record, so their badges, awards and attendance carry across. They sign in with their own credentials and see the sections they volunteer with — no duplicate records.

Can Young Leaders see sensitive member data?

No. Young Leaders cannot open member records or the member list, so medical details, emergency contacts and consents stay with the adults. They can take attendance, draft events and follow badge progress for their sections.

Which sections can a Young Leader access?

Only the sections they actively volunteer with. A Cub-section Young Leader sees the Cubs, not the Scouts. Access is managed by group admins and adjusts automatically as their volunteering changes.

Can Young Leaders award badges?

No. Young Leaders can see badge progress for their sections, but signing off requirements and awarding badges stays with leaders.

Does Young Leader attendance count toward their own awards?

Yes. When a Young Leader is marked present at a younger section's event, a helping session is logged towards their Young Leader Award. Leaders can adjust the hours, and there is no separate logbook to keep.

Is there an extra cost for Young Leader logins?

No. Young Leader logins are included for every group on Scoutworks at no additional cost. You can have as many Young Leaders as your group needs.

Young Leader Award Tracking

The Young Leader Award has more moving parts than any other award in Scouting — training modules, missions, service hours and a reflective log — and it is almost always tracked on paper that goes missing. Events, from draft to register

Four event types — programme meetings, activities and trips, camps, and admin meetings for the grown-ups — each with the fields that matter for it. Draft events in your own time, publish when ready, and edit freely after. Add as many sections as you need from the picker, and every section is invited.
