Planning a weekend away used to mean a dozen browser tabs, a spreadsheet of half-remembered sites, and a lot of guesswork about what each one actually offers. Scoutworks now has a built-in directory of UK Scout and Guide campsites and activity centres, so you can find a site that suits your section, see it on a map, and read what other leaders made of it — all without leaving Scoutworks.
Where to find it
Open Knowledge Base → Campsites in the sidebar. The page opens on the full directory, ready to search.
Searching and filtering
Type in the search box at the top to search by campsite name, town or county. Narrow the list down with the filters:
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Nation | England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland — pick one or more |
| Type | Campsite, activity centre, and so on — pick any that apply |
| Facilities | Only show sites with the facilities you need, such as indoor accommodation, toilets or showers |
| Activities | Only show sites offering the activities you want, such as climbing or water sports |
| Rating | Show only sites at or above a star rating, or only sites that have reviews |
Nation and Type widen your search — pick a few options to see more sites. Facilities and Activities narrow it — a site has to offer everything you tick to stay on the list.
Sort the results by Name, Rating, County, Nation or Capacity, and page through longer lists at the bottom.
Seeing sites on a map
Switch between Table and Map with the toggle at the top. The map drops a pin on every site with a known location and zooms to fit whatever your search and filters have left on the list, so you can see at a glance which sites are near you. Click any pin to open that site.
A handful of sites don't yet have a confirmed location — those stay in the table but won't appear on the map.
Opening a campsite
Click a row in the table, or a pin on the map, to open the full page for a site. You'll find its key facts — where it is, the sections it suits, and its capacity where we know it — a what3words address for the exact entrance when one is available, and a Visit website link straight to the site's own page.
Every site is honest about where its information came from. A green Verified listing badge means we've checked it against the site's official page. Otherwise you'll see Community-sourced — confirm details before booking, with a link to the original public listing. Either way, ring ahead to confirm the details that matter before you commit.
What other leaders say
The best guide to a campsite is a leader who has already taken a section there. On each site's page you can:
- Read and leave reviews with a star rating — Write a review captures the things a listing never tells you.
- Ask and answer questions — Ask a question posts to the leaders who've been, so you can check something specific before you go.
- Browse and add photos — Add photos shows the field, the huts and the facilities as they really are.
Reviews, questions and photos are added by leaders and admins across Scoutworks, so the directory gets richer every time someone shares a camp. Anything that looks out of place can be reported for a moderator to check.
