Looking up a rule in Policy, Organisation & Rules used to mean leaving Scoutworks, scrolling the Scouts website, and hoping you landed on the right page. Now the whole rulebook is built into Scoutworks, so you can find any rule in seconds and get straight back to what you were doing.
Where to find it
Open Knowledge Base → Policy (POR) in the sidebar. You can also press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere in Scoutworks, start typing, and pick a rule straight from the results under Policy (POR).
Browsing by chapter
The page lists POR exactly the way the rulebook is organised — numbered chapters, then lettered sub-chapters, then the individual rules. Click a chapter to open it, then click a rule to read it.
For example, Chapter 4 (Local Structure & Programme) opens into sub-chapters like 4b Our delivery sections, and 4b opens into its rules — including 4b.10 Adults required for safe Scouting.
Searching
Type into the search box at the top of the page. You can search three ways:
| You type… | You get… |
|---|---|
| A keyword or phrase | Every rule mentioning it, most relevant first |
| A plain-English phrase | The right rules even when your words differ — "how many adults" finds the adult ratio rules |
| A rule number | That rule directly — type 4b.10 to jump straight to it |
Checking the source
Every rule shows when it was last synced from scouts.org.uk and includes a View official rule link to the live page. If you ever need the definitive version — for a formal decision, or to double-check nothing has changed — that link takes you straight there.
