Badge reports overview

Scoutworks provides a range of reports to help you understand badge progress across your section, identify gaps in your programme, and generate materials for meetings and award ceremonies.

All badge reports live on the Reports tab of the Badges page. The tab has a search box, a Pinned section for the ones you use most, and a Recently generated list of everything you have run in the last 7 days.

Available reports

ReportWhat it shows
Joining In ReportTracks member participation across the badge programme
Top Award Progress ReportShows progress towards top awards (Chief Scout's Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.)
Member Badge ReportIndividual badge summary for a specific member
Badges to Award ReportLists badges where all requirements are complete but the badge has not yet been formally awarded
Badges Awarded ReportSummary of badges awarded over a chosen time period
Badge Progress DetailA spreadsheet with a row for every requirement your selected members have progress against — each one named in full, with its status and any activity dates
Badge Progress PosterGenerates a visual poster showing each member's badge progress — perfect for displaying at your meeting place
Badge InsertsPrintable badge record inserts for members' books or files
Badge Shopping ListEvery badge you need to order — the ones you owe members, and the ones running low, with a suggested quantity for each

Badge Shopping List

Run this one before you place an order. Choose where the stock is held (everywhere, your central group stock, or a single section) and an age group if you only want one section's badges, then Download PDF.

The report is the same shopping list you can get from the Badge Stock page — see Badge Stock and Custom Badges for what goes into it.

Re-downloading a report

Everything you generate stays in the Recently generated list for 7 days.

Download there gives you back the report you already generated, with the figures as they stood when you ran it — not a fresh one. Run again is there for when you do want today's data.

A few reports are put together in your browser rather than kept — the Badge Progress Poster and Badge Inserts among them. For those, Download reopens the setup so you can produce the sheet again.

Badge Insights

For deeper analytics, navigate to the Insights page and select the Badges tab. This gives you a data-driven view of your badge programme with several sections:

Badge Activity Coverage

Shows how actively your members are working on badges. Highlights sections or time periods with low engagement, so you can plan activities to boost participation.

Badge Gap Analysis

Identifies which badges in the programme no members are currently working on. This helps you spot opportunities to introduce new badge activities and ensure you are covering the full breadth of the programme.

Badge Nearly There

Lists members who are close to completing a badge — perhaps only one or two requirements away. This is invaluable for planning meetings, as you can design activities that help these members finish their badges.

Badge Programme Suggestions

Based on your gap analysis and member progress data, Scoutworks recommends which badges to focus on next. These suggestions consider what your section has not yet covered and where the best opportunities lie.

Badge Top Awards

Tracks progress towards top awards across your section, giving you a clear picture of how many members are on track and what they still need to achieve.

Exporting insights

From the Insights Actions dropdown on the Badges tab, you can export your data in several formats:

  • Badge Gap Analysis (CSV) — spreadsheet of all badges and their coverage across your section
  • Badge Insights Report (PDF) — comprehensive PDF report suitable for sharing with your Group Scout Leader or district
  • Badge Progress Heatmap (Excel) — visual heatmap showing badge progress across all members

Using reports to plan your programme

Reports and insights work best when used together as part of your programme planning:

  1. Run the Gap Analysis to see which badges your section has not touched
  2. Check Badge Programme Suggestions for recommended focus areas
  3. Review Badge Nearly There to find quick wins for upcoming meetings
  4. Use the Top Award Progress Report to ensure members working towards top awards are on track
  5. Generate a Badge Progress Poster to display at your meeting place and motivate members

Regular use of these tools helps you deliver a balanced, engaging programme and ensures no member's badge progress falls through the cracks.
