Badge not showing for a member
If the expected badges are not appearing for a member:
- Check section assignment: Badges are section-type-specific. Beaver badges only appear for members in Beaver sections, Cub badges for Cub sections, and so on. Verify the member is assigned to the correct section.
- Check section type: In Settings → Section Management, verify the Age Group field is set correctly for the section. If a Beaver section has the wrong age group, the wrong badges will appear.
Badges imported from OSM look wrong
If a section you brought over from OSM has badges with the wrong date, badges that never arrived, or an activity count that is too high, run the same OSM exports through the importer again. A re-run re-dates badges that are already in Scoutworks, adds anything an earlier import missed, and recalculates nights away, hikes and time on the water from the totals in your file. You do not need to delete anything first.
Two things a re-run leaves to you:
- A badge's status. Awarded stays awarded, completed stays ready to award. Only the dates are corrected.
- An activity count that is too high on a Challenge badge. Open the badge from Badges, expand the requirement on that young person's row, and remove the sessions that shouldn't be there before you re-run the import.

A Chief Scout's Award has gone missing
The Chief Scout's Acorn, Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are worked out from the badges a young person already holds. Once one is granted it stays granted — editing or re-importing a badge underneath it will not take the award back.
If an award disappeared before, it returns on its own the next time that young person is awarded a badge, or the next time you run the badge import. It comes back as ready to award, so mark it as awarded again if you have already presented it.
Evidence submission not appearing in review queue
If a parent has submitted evidence but it is not showing up:
- Navigate to Badges → Review Evidence and check the review queue.
- Evidence may be filtered by section — try changing the section filter.
- Confirm the parent actually submitted the evidence (they should see it with a "Pending" status in their portal).
Wrong badges showing for a section
If a section is displaying badges for the wrong age group:
- Go to Settings → Section Management.
- Click on the affected section.
- Check the Age Group field — it should match the section type (e.g. "Beavers" for a Beaver section).
- Correct it if wrong.
Badge availability updates immediately after changing the age group.
Badge stock out of sync
If your badge stock counts do not match what you have in the cupboard:
- Use Badge Actions → Send Badge Check to email parents asking them to confirm which badges their child has received.
- Reconcile the responses against your stock records.
- Update stock levels in Badges → Badge Stock.
Custom badges not appearing
If a custom badge you created is not showing:
- Check it was created for the correct section type.
- Navigate to Badges → Custom Badges to verify the badge exists.
