CSV import errors

If your CSV import fails or produces unexpected results:

Missing required fields: Every row needs at least First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth. Check your spreadsheet for blank cells in these columns.
Date format issues: Dates should be in a consistent format (e.g. DD/MM/YYYY). Mixed formats in the same column cause problems.
Column mapping: Double-check that your spreadsheet columns are mapped to the correct Scoutworks fields in the mapping step.
Encoding issues: Save your CSV as UTF-8 to avoid problems with special characters.

When importing from Online Scout Manager:

Connection problems: Try disconnecting and reconnecting your OSM account.
Section mapping: Make sure you map OSM sections to the correct Scoutworks sections.
Missing data: Some OSM fields may not have direct equivalents in Scoutworks. Review imported records and fill in any gaps manually.

If you suspect duplicate member records:

Search the member list by name before adding new members manually.
During CSV import, review the preview step carefully for duplicates.
If duplicates already exist, archive the duplicate record and keep the one with the most complete data.

If a member is not showing in your list:

Check filters: Make sure no filters are applied that would hide the member (section, status, etc.).
Check archived members: The member may have been archived. Go to Member Actions → Restore Member to check.
Check section assignment: The member may be assigned to a different section than you are looking at.

If parent information is incomplete:

Send parents a link to complete missing information via the Message Parents action.
Parents can update medical details, emergency contacts, consent forms, and dietary requirements through their portal.
