Subscribing to Your Calendar Feed

How to add your children's Scoutworks events to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook with your private feed URL.

You can subscribe to your children's events from Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook so they appear alongside everything else in your calendar. Each parent gets a private URL — only your children's sections show up, and you can replace the URL anytime if you ever share it by mistake.

Where to find your calendar feed

Sign in to Scoutworks and open your profile, then scroll to the Calendar section. You will see one block for each Scout group your children are in.

The first time you open this page, Scoutworks creates your personal URL automatically. Use the Copy button — you only need to copy this URL once for each group.

Adding the feed to your calendar app

Once you have copied the URL, open your calendar app and add it as a subscription. The exact steps depend on your app:

AppWhere to add it
Apple Calendar (Mac)Calendar → File → New Calendar Subscription, then paste the URL
Apple Calendar (iPhone/iPad)Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, then paste the URL
Google CalendarGoogle Calendar (web) → Other calendars → + → From URL, then paste the URL
Outlook (web)Outlook → Calendar → Add calendar → Subscribe from web, then paste the URL

After you add the feed, your calendar app checks for updates every 15 to 30 minutes. New events, time changes, and cancellations all appear automatically.

What you will see

Your feed only shows events for your children's sections. If you have children in different sections, you will see all their events together. If your children are in different Scout groups, each group has its own URL — add each one separately.

Past events stay on your calendar so you have a record. Cancelled events are marked as cancelled rather than deleted, in case you need to look back.

Replacing your URL

If you ever share your URL by mistake, or you want to be cautious, you can replace it:

  1. Go back to Settings → Calendar.
  2. Find the group whose URL you want to replace.
  3. Click Replace URL and confirm.
  4. Copy the new URL and update your calendar app.

The old URL stops working immediately. Anyone using it — including your own calendar app until you update it — will see an error until you paste in the fresh URL.

Multiple groups

Parents with children in more than one Scout group will see one block per group. Replacing one URL does not affect the others. You can subscribe to all of them in the same calendar app — they will appear as separate calendars you can show or hide.

If your URL stops working

Your URL will stop working if your last child leaves the group, or if you have replaced it and your calendar app is still using the old one. In both cases the fix is to come back to Settings → Calendar and either subscribe to the new URL or contact your group's leader if you think your child should still be active.
