Where Your Child's Badges Go

Your child has earned a badge and it needs sewing on. Here's exactly where each one belongs on the uniform — with a printable guide you can keep by the sewing kit.

A badge has come home in a book bag, and now it needs sewing on. Which bit of the uniform does it go on? Where badges go answers exactly that. It shows every badge your child has actually been awarded, marked on the official diagram for their section, so you can see at a glance where each one belongs — and you can print the whole thing and keep it with the sewing kit.

Where to find it

Open Badge Progress in the parent sidebar, then open Badge Actions and choose Where badges go. If you have more than one child in the group, pick the child first — the guide is built for one child at a time, from the badges that child has earned.

The four places a badge can go

The numbers aren't decoration — they're your cross-reference. Marker 1 on the diagram is the same 1 on the zone cards below it, and the same 1 on the printed checklist. So you can find a badge in the list, read its number, and go straight to the right spot on the shirt.

Not worn on the shirt

Some badges are grouped under Not worn on the shirt. This is not an error and nothing has gone wrong — these are badges that are worn on a belt, scarf or woggle rather than sewn onto the uniform shirt.

Custom badges your group has invented — a camp badge, a district challenge, a group award — may also sit here until a leader sets a place for them.

What's on the guide

The guide only shows badges your child has actually been awarded. Badges they're still working towards don't appear — this is a sewing list, not a progress report, so it stays short and honest.

For staged badges, only the highest stage earned is shown. If your child has just earned Stage 3, only Stage 3 appears, because that's the one that goes on the uniform — the earlier stages come off.

If your child hasn't been awarded anything yet, you'll see No badges to place yet. Nothing to do; check back after the next award ceremony.

Printing it

Tap Download guide and you'll get a two-page PDF named after your child:

  • Page 1 — the full uniform diagram with the numbered markers, so you can see where everything sits.
  • Page 2 — a tick-box checklist of their badges, grouped by zone and numbered to match page 1.

What leaders see

When a leader creates or edits a custom badge for your group, they choose its Uniform placement. That choice is what puts the badge in the right place on this guide — it's the only way you'd know where a badge your group invented is meant to go.

If a custom badge is showing under Not worn on the shirt and you're fairly sure it belongs on the shirt, have a word with your section leader — it's a quick fix at their end, and it'll be right for every parent in the group, not just you. See Badge Stock and Custom Badges for what leaders do.
