Most list pages in Scoutworks — Members, Events, Badges, Expenses, Waiting List and more — let you filter and sort the rows. Instead of setting those filters from scratch every time, save your set-up as a named view. The view follows you across devices, and you can pin your favourites or set one as the default so it loads the moment you open the page.
Where to find this
Saved views appear at the top of every filterable list page. You will see a row of pills with your views, a Save button for the current filters, and a + menu for more actions.
- System views (read-only) — seeded for every group. On the Members page you will see views like All active, By section, Needs badges ordering. They have a lock icon and cannot be renamed or deleted.
- Your views — anything you save yourself. These are private to you.
Saving a view
- Set the filters and sort order you want — for example, on Members, filter to Beavers, sort by Last name, and hide archived members.
- A small unsaved dot appears next to the active view pill to show the filters have changed.
- Click Save in the view bar, then choose one of two options in the dialog:
- Save as new view — give it a name (up to 100 characters) and tick Set as default if you want it to load automatically. Click Save.
- Update current view — only available for views you own; overwrites the saved filters with what is on screen now.
System views cannot be overwritten. If you have one selected, the Save button always creates a new view instead.
Switching between views
Click any pill to switch to it. Your filters, sort order, and (on some pages) the active tab all update in one step.
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Switch view | Click the pill, or press Cmd + Shift + 1, 2, or 3 |
| Save current filters as new | Click Save, or press Cmd + Shift + S |
| Go back to the default view | Press Cmd + Shift + X |
| Open a shared view via URL | Paste the link — the page loads with that view selected |
On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl + Shift instead of Cmd + Shift.
Renaming, pinning, reordering, and deleting
Click the chevron on any view you own to open its action menu.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rename | Inline-edit the name. Press Enter to save, Esc to cancel. |
| Set as default | This view loads automatically every time you open the page. A star appears on the pill. |
| Pin to top | Pinned views stay at the left of the bar, in front of unpinned ones. Useful for the two or three you use most. |
| Delete | Removes the view. This cannot be undone — but no underlying data is deleted, just the saved filter set-up. |
To change the order, drag a pill left or right. The new order saves automatically and is kept for next time.
Sharing a view via URL
Every view has a shareable link. When someone opens the link — if they have access to the page and your group — the page loads with that view selected. Copy the URL straight from your browser's address bar after switching to the view you want to share.
Moving from your old filters
The first time you open a page after this feature switches on, any filters you had saved before are migrated across automatically. You do not need to do anything — the filters you used yesterday are the filters you have today, just now saved as a view called My filters that you can rename.
If a page gains a new filter later on (for example, a new status option), your existing views keep working. Any filter that does not yet have a value on your view falls back to the default, rather than breaking.
Pages that support saved views
The same view bar appears on:
- Members and Parents
- Events and Parent Events
- Badges, Badge Evidence, Badge Stock, and Custom Badges
- Equipment and Equipment Requests
- Claims & Payments (expenses)
- Risk Management, Risk Library, and Accident Reports
- Budgets, Ledger, Restricted Funds, and Kit Lists
- Waiting List and Surveys
- Parent pages: My Children, My Children's Events, and Badge Progress
Single-tab pages — the dashboard, insights, and finance overview — do not have views because there is only one list to filter.
