Using the Dashboard

How to use the Scoutworks dashboard to see upcoming events, pending actions, and quick-access features.

The dashboard is the first screen you see after signing in. It gives you a snapshot of what is happening in your group right now -- upcoming events, birthdays, badges waiting to be awarded, and actions that need your attention. Everything is designed so you can quickly decide what to do next.

Opening the Dashboard

Click Home in the sidebar or the Scoutworks logo at any time to return to the dashboard. The route is /.

Actions Dropdown

The green Actions button in the top-right corner gives you fast access to common tasks without navigating away from the dashboard.

Quick Statistics

The Quick Statistics section at the top of the main column shows four summary cards. Each card is clickable and navigates to the relevant page.

CardWhat it shows
Total MembersActive (non-archived) members across your sections
Upcoming CampsCount of scheduled overnight camps and residentials
Upcoming ActivitiesCount of scheduled day activities and outings
Badges Awaiting AwardBadges members have completed but not yet received physically

Hover over the info icon on any card to see a brief explanation of how the number is calculated.

Insights

Below the statistics you will find the Insights section, which contains two cards.

Your Upcoming Events

Shows the next three scheduled events across all types (meetings, camps, activities). Each row displays the event title, date, location, and section badge. Click any event to open its details dialog where you can view RSVP status, take attendance, or edit the event.

If no upcoming events exist, a Create Event button appears so you can quickly schedule one.

Upcoming Birthdays

Shows member birthdays in the next 30 days, grouped by section and sorted by date. Each entry shows a badge indicating how many days remain -- Today!, Tomorrow, or a number like 12d. If there are more than five birthdays, click Show more to expand the full list.

Group Calendar

The Group Calendar section displays a month-view calendar with all events across every section. This helps leaders coordinate scheduling and spot clashes. Click any event on the calendar to view a privacy-safe summary (no personal data). You can subscribe sections to your personal calendar app from here.

By default, all "Published" events are shown to all leaders, young leaders and admins. "Draft" events are not shown.

Actions Required

The right-hand column (on desktop) or the top of the page (on mobile) is the Actions Required panel. It collects everything that needs your attention in one place:

  • Quick Start Checklist -- appears for new groups to guide initial setup
  • Leader RSVP Required -- events where you have not yet confirmed your availability as a leader
  • District Invitations -- pending invitations from your district
  • Pending Evidence Review -- badge evidence submissions waiting for your sign-off
  • Expense Claims -- expense claims awaiting your approval (click to go to Finance > Expenses)
  • Waiting List Triage -- families on the waiting list that need triaging (click to open the triage workflow on the waiting list page)

Each card only appears when there is something to act on, so the panel stays tidy.

Parent Dashboard

If you are signed in as a parent (without a leader role), the dashboard shows a simplified Parent Dashboard view. You will also see a Actions button and interactive cards that help you to see valuable insights into your child's progress and carry out tasks effciently.
