Getting started with Scoutworks
Setting up your Scout group on Scoutworks takes just a few minutes. The process walks you through signing up, starting your free trial, and creating your account — so you can get straight to the things that matter.
Step 1: Sign up
Head to the Scoutworks signup page and fill in the following details:
- Email — the email address you want to use for your account
- First Name and Last Name
- Group Name (required) — the full name of your Scout group, e.g. "1st Bromley"
- UK Postcode (optional) — helps us tailor features to your area
Step 3: Create your account
After completing checkout, you will be taken to the Create Account page. Your group name and postcode are pre-filled from the signup step, so you just need to set a password.
As you type your password, a live requirements checklist shows you what is needed — things like minimum length, uppercase letters, and numbers. Once all requirements are met, confirm your account and you are ready to go.
Step 4: Your first login
When you log in for the first time, you will also see the QuickStart Checklist on your dashboard, which guides you through the essential setup steps for your group.
The checklist covers things like adding your first section, inviting leaders, and importing members. Work through it at your own pace — each step links directly to the relevant part of Scoutworks.
What happens next
With your account created, you are the Group Admin — meaning you have full access to every feature and setting. Your next steps will typically be:
- Create your sections — set up the age groups your group runs (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, etc.)
- Invite your leaders — bring your leadership team on board
- Add your members — manually, or via CSV import from existing Online Scout Manager data.
The QuickStart Checklist will guide you through each of these. If you want to explore the interface first, take a look at our guide to navigating Scoutworks.
