The Scoutworks interface
Scoutworks is designed to keep everything within easy reach. The sidebar on the left is your main way of getting around, and it adapts based on your role — so you only ever see what is relevant to you.
The sidebar
The sidebar contains all the main navigation items. For leaders and admins, you will see:
- Dashboard — your home screen with key information and the QuickStart Checklist
- Members — your full member list, with sub-items for Waiting List and Transition Planner
- Events — event management, with sub-items for Risk Management and Incidents
- Badges — badge tracking, with sub-items for Review Evidence, Custom Badges, and Badge Stock
- Finance — financial tools, with sub-items for Accounting, Online Payments, and Expenses
- Email — send and manage communications
- Knowledge Base — shared documents and files
- Equipment — track and manage group equipment
- Insights — reports and analytics
At the bottom of the sidebar, you will find the link to Settings.
You can collapse the sidebar using the collapse button to give yourself more screen space — handy when you are working on a smaller screen or want to focus on the content area.
The user menu
Click your avatar in the top corner to open the user menu. From here you can access:
- Profile — update your personal details
- Settings — group configuration (admin only)
- Subscription — manage your billing through the Stripe portal (admin only)
- Install App — add Scoutworks to your home screen (appears when available)
- Log out — sign out of your account
The context switcher
If you belong to more than one group or district, the Context Switcher at the top of the sidebar lets you move between them. It shows a dropdown with your organisations grouped under two headings:
- Scout Groups — shown with a green indicator
- Districts — shown with a blue indicator
Each entry displays your role badge (e.g. Admin, Leader) alongside the group name. If a group's subscription has lapsed, you will see an Expired badge next to it.
Parent view
If you are logged in as a parent, you will see a different set of navigation items in a purple colour scheme:
- Parent Dashboard
- My Children
- My Children's Events
- Badge Progress
- My Finances
- Knowledge Base (read-only access to shared documents)
Parents who only have children on the waiting list will see a simplified view with just the Parent Dashboard.
Young leader view
Young leaders see a focused set of navigation items tailored to what they need:
- Dashboard
- Events
- Risk Management
- Badges
- Equipment
This keeps the interface simple and avoids showing features that are not relevant to the young leader role.
Mobile navigation
On smaller screens, the sidebar collapses into a slide-out menu. Tap the menu icon to open it — you will see the same navigation items as on desktop, adapted for touch.
