You look after a district. You want to see how your groups are doing, run district events with them, and reach their families, all from one place. The new district portal brings these jobs together. It is in beta: it is ready to use, and we are still adding to it as district teams tell us what they need.
This article is for district admins and anyone on a district team.
Turning on the new portal
A district admin turns the new portal on for the whole district. Nobody else on the team needs to do anything.
- Switch into your district with the switcher at the top of the sidebar.
- Click Settings, then open the District tab.
- In the Beta programme section, turn on the switch.
Scoutworks confirms with "Beta programme on. Your district moves to the new portal." From then on, everyone on your district team sees the new portal when they switch into the district.
Only district admins see the Beta programme section.
Turning it off
Follow the same steps and turn the switch off. Scoutworks confirms with "Beta programme off. Your district goes back to the current portal." The whole team moves back at once.
What is in the new portal
The sidebar shows these pages. What you see depends on your role in the district team.
| Page | What it is for | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | What needs you, totals across your district, and every group at a glance | Everyone |
| Waiting lists | Who is waiting to join, and your district's waiting list link | Admins |
| Young Leaders | How Young Leaders are progressing across your groups | Everyone |
| Events | Run district events and share them with your groups | Everyone (viewers can only look) |
| Finance | Coming soon | Everyone |
| Insights | Membership, census, badge and safety figures | Admins and volunteers |
| Broadcasts | Email families and volunteers across your groups | Everyone (viewers see the history only) |
| Charity registration | Weekly Charity Commission checks for your groups | Everyone |
| Settings | Your team, your groups, your units and the beta switch | Admins |
Finance is not ready yet. The page tells you what is coming: taking payments for district events and activities, and keeping the district's own books in Scoutworks.
Settings has four tabs:
| Tab | What is on it |
|---|---|
| Users | Team management: who is on your district team, and their roles |
| Groups | Connected groups and District units |
| District | Your district's charity registration, and the Beta programme switch |
| Notifications | Coming soon |
What stays the same
Each group still decides what it shares with you. A group that shares sends totals only, never names or contact details. A group that does not share shows only its name on your dashboard. See Managing Groups in Your District for how invitations work.
Broadcasts and charity registration work as they did before. If you open an old link to a district page, Scoutworks takes you to the same page in the new portal.
What's next
- Your district dashboard: what needs you, and how each group is doing.
- Your district team: admin, volunteer and viewer: who can do what, and how to invite people.
- Running a district event with your groups: plan an event and share it with your groups.
- Moving between your district and your groups: switch without losing your place.
