Many people on a district team also lead a group, or help run a district Explorer unit. You might check the district dashboard, then go to your own group to mark attendance, then come back. Scoutworks lets you move between them in place, so you do not lose track of where you were.
Using the switcher
The switcher sits at the top of the sidebar. It shows where you are now and your role there.
- Click the switcher.
- Choose the district, group or unit you want.
The list puts your district first, then your groups and units. An icon tells you what each place is:
| Icon | Place |
|---|---|
| Landmark | A district |
| Tent | A Scout group |
| Compass | A district unit, such as a district Explorer unit |
A tick marks the place you are in now.
The page changes in place. A message at the bottom of the screen says "Now in" and the name of the place. Click Switch back on that message to return to the place you left.
On a phone, the menu closes after you switch, so you see the new place straight away.
Switching from the keyboard
- Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows, to open search.
- Type part of the name of the district, group or unit.
- Under Switch to, choose the place.
Opening a district unit
District admins can open a unit from Settings, on the Groups tab, under District units. Click Open next to the unit. You move into the unit as its leader, and the "Now in" message offers Switch back to the district. See Running Explorer units as a district.
Your role can be different in each place
Your role belongs to each place. You might be an admin of your district and a leader in your group. After a switch, the sidebar and the pages show what your role allows in the new place.
Old links still work
If you saved a link to a district page in the current portal, it still works. Scoutworks takes you to the same page in the new portal.
