District admins can invite Scout groups in their district to share aggregated data — membership trends, event attendance and badge progress. Districts do not see a group's finances. The Connected Groups section is where those invitations live, from first sending right through to chasing a group that hasn't got round to responding yet.
This article is for district admins. Group Admins deciding whether to accept or decline a district's invitation will see the choice in their own group's settings.
Opening the Connected Groups view
Switch into your district using the context switcher in the top-left, then go to Settings. Expand the Connected Groups section — the subtitle reads: "Manage group invitations and data sharing".
Three tabs organise the view:
| Tab | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Sharing Data | Groups that have accepted and are actively sharing their data with you. |
| Pending | Invitations you've sent that haven't been responded to yet. |
| All Invitations | Every invitation ever sent, including accepted, declined, expired, and cancelled. |
The number in brackets on each tab is a live count.
Inviting a group
Click Invite Group in the top-right of the section. Fill in the group's details in the dialog that opens, then send.
The group's admin receives an email with a link to accept or decline on behalf of their group. Until they respond, the invitation sits in the Pending tab.
Resending a pending invitation
If a Group Admin hasn't got round to responding — or their invite email has gone astray — you can nudge them with a fresh one without starting over.
- Open the Pending tab.
- Find the group's row — the status will show an amber Pending badge.
- Click Resend on the right-hand side of the row.
A toast confirms how many people the email was sent to — for example "Invitation resent to 2 group admins." The list then refreshes so you can see the updated Invited date.
Who gets the email
The resend goes to every current Group Admin at the target group — not just the person you originally invited. If the group's admin team has changed since your first invitation, the right people still get the new email.
If the group currently has no active admins on their end, the toast reads "Invitation refreshed. No group admins were available to email." The invitation itself is still refreshed, but nobody has been emailed — a good sign to follow up another way.
Messages you might see
| Message | Why it's showing |
|---|---|
| "Invitation resent to N group admins." | All good — a fresh email is on its way to every current Group Admin at the target group. |
| "Too soon — try again in X seconds." | You or another district admin just resent the same invitation a moment ago. This stops accidental duplicates from a double-click. Wait the few seconds and try again. |
| "This invitation is no longer pending." | The group accepted, declined, or cancelled the invitation between the list loading and your click. The list refreshes so the stale row disappears — no action needed. |
Seeing which groups are sharing
The Sharing Data tab lists every group that has accepted. Each row shows the group name, its postcode if provided, and the date it connected. Those groups' aggregated data flows through to your District Insights.
If a group wants to stop sharing, their Group Admin revokes the connection from their own group settings — district admins can't force a disconnection from this view.
