Changing the Dates of Several Events

How to move a whole term of draft events forwards or backwards in one action, instead of editing each one.

Term dates shift. A half-term lands a week later than you planned, or the hall is unavailable for a fortnight. Instead of opening twelve events and changing each date by hand, you can move them all together.

Where to find this

Go to the Events page and tick the events you want to move. The bulk actions bar appears at the bottom of the list. Click Shift Dates.

Moving the dates

In the dialog:

  1. Enter how far to move them — a number of days or weeks.
  2. Choose Later or Earlier.
  3. Check the preview. It shows the old and new dates for the first few events.
  4. Click Shift dates.

Everything on each event moves by the same amount:

What movesExample
Start date and timeTuesday 6 October, 7pm → Tuesday 13 October, 7pm
End date and timeMoves with the start
Return timeMoves with the start
RSVP deadlineMoves with the start
Leader RSVP deadlineMoves with the start

Times stay as you set them. A 7pm meeting moved across the end of March is still a 7pm meeting, not 8pm.

Draft events only

This moves draft events. Published events are left alone, because parents may already have replied to them, payments may be scheduled against them, and the dates may be in someone's calendar feed.

If your selection includes published or archived events, the dialog tells you how many it will skip, and moves the drafts. If you have not selected any drafts, Shift Dates is not offered.

Moving a published event

To change the date of a published event, open it and edit it as normal. Parents who have already replied are notified of the change.
