Risk assessments stay accurate when they're reviewed regularly — venues change, controls get updated, and what felt low-risk last year might not be this year. Scoutworks tracks the next review date for every structured assessment and gives you a one-click way to mark a review complete, schedule the next one, or close out the review cycle when you don't need another one yet.
Where to find this
Open Events → Risk Management in the sidebar. Assessments due for review show a coloured date in the Review Date column:
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red | Overdue — the review date has passed |
| Amber | Due in the next 14 days |
| Grey | Current — no action needed yet |
Marking an assessment as reviewed
You have two ways to mark a review complete:
| Where | Use this when |
|---|---|
| Inline tick icon on the table row | The assessment is overdue or due soon — the icon only appears on rows that need attention, so you can sweep down the list and clear them without opening anything |
| Review button inside the assessment | You've just opened the assessment to read it through and want to mark it reviewed from there |
Either route opens the same short panel. Tap Mark as reviewed to record today's date as the last review.
Scheduling the next review (or not)
The next review date is optional. Three choices:
| You want to... | Do this |
|---|---|
| Schedule another review in the future | Pick a date in the Schedule next review field, then tap Mark as reviewed |
| Leave the review cycle open without a fixed date | Leave the field blank and tap Mark as reviewed |
| Stop reviewing this assessment for now | Leave the field blank — the assessment falls off the overdue and due-soon lists |
Clearing an existing review date
If an assessment was set up with a future review date and you've decided it doesn't need one any more, you can wipe the date in two places:
- From the Mark as reviewed panel — leave the date field blank and submit. The next review date clears as part of marking the review complete.
- From inside the assessment editor — open the assessment, go to the Review Schedule step, and tap Clear next to the date field.
What gets recorded
When you mark an assessment reviewed, Scoutworks updates two fields you'll see on the assessment:
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Last Reviewed | Today's date — proof the review happened |
| Next Review | The date you picked, or blank if you didn't pick one |
The assessment itself isn't changed by a review — the risks, controls, and scores stay the same. If you spotted something that needs updating, open the assessment with Edit first, make the changes, then mark it reviewed.
