The risk assessment library gives your group a shared collection of reusable risks. Instead of writing the same hazards from scratch for every camp or activity, you build a library of common risks -- complete with suggested control measures and default scoring -- then pull them into individual assessments as needed.
Opening Risk Management
Navigate to Events > Risk Management in the sidebar. The Risk Management page shows dashboard statistics at the top, followed by a filterable table of all assessments your group has created.
Accessing the Risk Library
Click the Risk Actions button in the top-right corner of the Risk Management page and select Risk Library from the dropdown menu. This opens the library in standalone management mode, where you can browse, create, edit, and delete library items.
Browsing the Library
The Risk Library dialog displays all risks as expandable cards. Each card shows:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Category icon | Visual indicator of the risk category (e.g. weather, equipment, medical) |
| Risk Name | Short title of the hazard |
| Description | One-line summary, truncated on the card |
| Risk Score badge | Colour-coded severity -- Low (green), Medium (yellow), High (orange), or Critical (red) |
Use the search bar to find risks by name or description. The Advanced Filter lets you narrow by Activity Type (Hiking, Camping, Swimming, Indoor Activities, Outdoor Activities, Events, General) and Category (Weather, Equipment, Behavioral, Environmental, Medical, Transport, Supervision, Inclusion, Traffic).
Click the chevron on any card to expand it and view full details including Suggested Control Measures, Who is at Risk, Communication Method, Review/Monitoring Notes, creator name, and usage count.
Creating a New Library Item
Click Create New Risk in the library browser. The creation form is split into four sections:
Risk Identification -- Enter a Risk Name and a detailed Description of the hazard.
Categorisation -- Choose an Activity Type and a Category from the dropdowns. These make the risk easier to find later when adding it to assessments.
Risk Scoring -- Set the default Likelihood (1 Rare to 5 Almost Certain) and Impact (1 Negligible to 5 Catastrophic) using the sliders. The combined score appears as a colour-coded badge.
Suggested Control Measures -- Add one or more control measures that describe how the risk should be mitigated. Click Add Control Measure to add extra lines. At least one measure is required.
Click Create Risk to save the item to your library.
Editing and Deleting Library Items
In standalone mode, each risk card has a three-dot menu on the right with Edit and Delete options.
- Edit opens a form identical to the creation dialog, pre-filled with the current values.
- Delete removes the risk from the library. Pre-built default risks cannot be deleted; the option is disabled for those items.
Using Library Risks in Assessments
When you create or edit a risk assessment (via Risk Actions > Create Assessment), the assessment wizard includes a Risks step. From there, open the Risk Library in assessment mode to browse and select risks. Tick the checkboxes next to the risks you want, then click Add to Assessment. You can select multiple risks at once.
Once added to an assessment, each risk can have its likelihood, impact, and control measures customised for that specific activity without changing the library original.
Approval Workflow
Risk assessments move through three statuses:
| Status | Badge colour | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Grey | Work in progress -- not yet ready for review |
| Complete | Blue | Finished by the author and ready for approval |
| Approved | Green | Signed off by an admin or authorised leader |
Admins can approve completed assessments individually from the assessment table, or select multiple assessments and use the bulk Approve action from the floating action bar.
Bulk Actions
Select multiple assessments using the checkboxes in the table. A floating action bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the following options:
- Export PDFs -- download a full PDF for each selected assessment.
- Briefing Notes -- download a condensed briefing note for each.
- Set Status -- move selected assessments to Draft or Complete.
- Approve (admins only) -- approve all completed assessments in the selection.
- Delete -- permanently remove the selected assessments.
